SILENCE

SILENCE

Let silence prevail
Between us
Impotent, quiet
Cold and placid.
Let me live
In my world of today
And yesterday’s memories
Of us,
When our sighs
Were pregnant with longing,
Our laughter held
Promises of hope,
When our hearts
Had no doorways
To be locked away,
When our imagination
Had wings to fly
To limitless skies
Of possibilities…
My soul weeps
In silence now,
My heart heavy
With unsung feelings
In its lonely confinement,
While we are lost
In a realm of mediocrity
And mundane sweet nothings.
Let me live
In my world
Where passion is alive
Breathing, ready
To unfurl its petals
Of intense love and longing
While you live
In a self created world
Of practicality and fear
Your heart’s calling
Snuffed within its walls.
The fleeting glimpses
Of your beautiful soul
As it soared
In ecstasy
Like a forgotten dream now.
Let me live ‘in my world
Where I am heart
Laid bare, innocent
And childlike
And you remain reason
Where the heart
Is chained,
Kept in a leash
For fear of pain and agony
The chasm separating us now
Limitless
Let silence like a wedge
Prevail between us

  23. The heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of… but it sounds as if this beloved one leaned more on reason than heart. And you, dear Rimly, trust heart over reason – yes? Because your poetry reveals your heart nature.

  28. Hi Rimly -

    "My soul weeps
    In silence now,
    My heart heavy
With unsung feelings..." and we bottle up and live within our own heart, alone and confined to a mediocre nothing! WOWOW I love it Rimly. :)

  29. Isn't it sad when the ones we loved and invested so much of ourselves in - friends or lovers - are now separated by the chasm of silence you so beautifully described?
