Waiting…..

 Waiting....

She stands gazing into the distant horizon
Waiting….for a glimpse.
The lashing winds from faraway lands
Murmurs to her of a love
That brings a smile to her hungry lips.
Every line etched on her face
Has a story to tell….
Tales of adventure and misadventure
Of pain and longing
Of joy and happiness
Of agony and ecstasy.

She shivers as darkness gathers around her
Remembering ….the warmth
Of that first embrace.
Arms that had engulfed her
With her sorrows, woes and tragedies.
A lost soul, floundering
In the maze of her life
Till he showed her….
A life of love laden days
Of respect and dignity
Of promise and trust.

She listens to the rustle of falling leaves
Mocking and cackling at her
Waiting…..eternally for a promise
Given in a moment of tenderness.
Her dark luminous eyes are pools of dying embers
Hiding in their depths her buried desires and passion.
An unfaltering silhouette,
A sentry of timelessness
She waits….for him.
Months, seasons, years roll into decades…
Yet, for her the hands of time stand still,
Mourning and yet pregnant with hope
She waits…..her endless vigil.

  1. Waiting is heartbreaking but the tiniest glimpse of HIM is enough to dispel all the clouds of gloom. Love is a wonderful thing and only a few really lucky ones find their love in this lifetime. So rejoice in the fact that you've found him, and you both know that you belong together. Love happens for a reason.
Beautiful poem my dear, loved it.

  9. very nice. you have to let yourself accept that the winds of hope will bring to you at times things that will last a lifetime and things that would only last the season. Idea is to learn and move on from those that last only a season and keep your mind n heart open to feel the breeze, take a deep breath and absorb the good it brings with it.....

  15. Love this one...no one deserves this..sometimes...
you just have to jump off a bridge and hope like hell that you learn to fly on the way down. I contradict myself by saying so,but to wait for ever..no..we were born for something much better..
Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.Keep on writing..and inspiring me all the time.

  17. Waiting becomes an art when it allows one to become really creative...

When he first asked me if I could wait for two years, I said yes... now, his friends were asking me if I could wait a lifetime...Geez...and I didn't know what to say... Is it a promise? a bondage? a free act? will?

I want to be pregnant... with hope...

I tasted every word you wrote... and loved it...

    love you soul sis :*

  18. waiting is too tough to handle. the beginning of waiting is rather easy, but as time flows by, it becomes tough to handle. all hopes seems to slow down, life comes to a standstill. memories that are sweet, begin to haunt, pulses give up to heart beat. pain cripples in and makes our desires motionless. we live though we feel we are dead. we feel defeated, empty all over the place, once again.

  19. I await the eternal bliss that comes with fulfillment of hope after waiting. How encouraging Rimly!

  20. Heartfelt thoughts and words, Rimly ❤

I used to feel just this way too...waiting for someone else to make me feel whole. Now I really know that I am whole...just me, just as I am...and the feeling of that is indescribable.

    Blessings dear one ❤

  21. With the fact that my baby, well she's 16, but still my baby., has now been away from me for 3 weeks, guess where todays poem has taken me. i'm now going to get my calendar, and counts the days, hours, seconds before i see her again ... and it does feel like an endless vigil

"Her dark luminous eyes are pools of dying embers
Hiding in their depths her buried desires and passion.
    An unfaltering silhouette,
A sentry of timelessness..." How disturbingly calming are these words ?! Keep writing my friend. We wait for more !!

  24. Waiting is agony especially when awaiting the return of that special love. Physically, mentally, and emotionally the body suffers as the distance of a beloved one takes it toll. You have perfectly captured that pain and as always your writing style is awesome!!

  26. @Swati the optimist and hopeful in me believes he will come but the cynic in me says he wont. Thank you for always visiting and reading my poems, my friend

@Alpana you are right. Sometimes one should give up on waiting when you know deep in your heart the waiting is futile. Thank you my love

@Jessica thank you for reading and commenting. It was painful writing this poem. Sometimes you cannot tell your heart to stop waiting even when you know it is all in vain

  27. @Melissa waiting can anything you want it to be, bondage or free will and it is your decision only. Personally I feel we should move on if we feel it in our heart that nothing is to come of this waiting. We all wait for someone or something. Love you

@Sancheeta you hit the nail on the head.

@Blognostics thank you for commenting. The hope for fulfillment can keep one going on in life, waiting and hoping
