Then and Now

THEN AND NOW

There was a time…
I would look into your fathomless eyes
And see our world reflected
In their warm depths.
Our souls would traverse the
Spaces between us
And we would fuse as one.

There was a time…..
I would seek your tender touch
In the dark of the night
And find you next to my heart.
You would hold my hand
And lead me to the light
Of our tomorrow.

There was a time….
I would be cocooned in the silken expanse
Of your generous loving arms
And believe it could be for a lifetime.
With wings unfurled we would fly
Through strife and turmoil
To make our home, our haven.

There was a time…
I would listen to your soothing voice
As terrifying silence grip me
And would be lulled like a child.
Calmed and soothed
You and I would dream
Of a world of possibilities and hope.

Today comes a time….
Your deep eyes hold no promise.
My soul awakens still,
To your tender, magical fingers.
As my tired soul rests on your rhythmic heart
I hear its whisperings of desire,
Wanting yet tied by bonds stronger than ours.
Your words wound and break me
And all I can do is bleed….

  1. There is no end to time , for loving, caring, soothing, it survives ages if it is true,
All you lost or so you feel
    is not real.
    This is a test comment

I always thoroughly enjoy reading your poems, it's like watching your own self subtly transfigured through a mirror.
Amazing metaphors used, loved this para:
    "There was a time….
I would be cocooned in the silken expanse
    Of your generous loving arms
And believe it could be for a lifetime.
With wings unfurled we would fly
    Through strife and turmoil
To make our home, our haven."

  20. love doesn't know to revolt, only love till the end without searching for a reason even if it costs the bleeding of a soul. promises that are meant to be broken always has a season of THEN and NOW.

YOUR POEM IS OVERPOWERED BY INTENSE LOVE THAT SAVORS THE HAPPY MOMENTS AND PATIENTLY TRIES TO ENGULF THE PAIN CAUSED DUE TO THE BROKEN PROMISES,YET AWAKENING THE SOUL. AS ALWAYS I LOVE YOUR STYLE AND YOUR WRITE UP.

  33. This was heartbreaking & beautiful Rimly. You always know how to touch my heart with your writing. We've all had love like that which feels so fresh and new and forever and when it ends we feel like all the life has drained out. But there is always some beauty left behind. Thanks for this!

  35. I ceased believing that love even existed between us...then and now...I stare on a blank wall soul sis... in outer space...

  36. Dont worry soul sis, that blank wall will soon be filled with love, and a myriad of colors.

  44. Time does change people, but how you have worked together during that time will either shape you together or split you apart. We all change, that's the nature of things. Do we evolve together, or develop away from each other?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thank you Vaisakhi. Change is the only constant and we have to move along with it

    ReplyDelete
  46. I agree with you Jim. It also depends how strong that bond is to survive the change in time. Thank you

  47. Sigh, sigh, and double sigh!! Beautiful as always...but you do know that once the souls connect they remain connected for ever and ever...in all lifetimes.

  48. Beautiful Rimly..........hard hitting, raw passion...a your very best.We are all a little damaged. Some of us hide it better than others, but on some level, we’re all torn up. We take it out on others and beat through life carrying it all. We’ll end up damaging someone else. And most of the time, we won’t even notice or bother to care, because we’re too busy with out little disaster that we call life.

  49. Rimly, look on my blog, I left something for you. I love you!

  51. Thank you Swati. Yes I believe once souls connect they remain connected through lifetimes, they will be there with you in all lifetimes. While some move away from us in this lifetime to come back in some other lifetime and some continue to be with us till the end.
