SNAPSHOTS

SNAPSHOTS

Photo: Google Image

Snapshots!
Black, White,
Colored…
All vie for attention!
A plethora of snapshots!
They stare at me!
These faces!
Each tell a tale
Of long spent passion,
Of a frenzied love!
I stand amidst them,
Invoking memories
Of what had been…
The dream laden eyes…
The trembling lips…
Excited and swollen
Their desire unleashed
As they devour
One another,
Tracing a new
Love story…
The tender arms
That hold promises
Of eternal togetherness,
Ecstasy transporting
Them on gossamer wings
To a world of their own.
Unaware…
Oblivious…
That all fades in time…
Pales…withers…crushed
To dust….
Their glazed eyes
Plead for answers…
Haunted faces!
Where did it all go?
Their screams
Almost audible…
The longing that
Tore the very soul,
The passion that
Ignited in a blaze,
The hopes,
The promises
The love that was theirs
Timeless…
Where?
Why?
I have no answers…
Silence my only recourse…
The sea of faces
 My very image…
I walk away,
Turn the pages of my life,
As a lone tear slides
Down my heavy bosom…
Their love…
A fairy tale now
Their faces…
Inanimate and lifeless
Their hopes and dreams…
An illusion…
I walk away wiser,
Glancing one last time
At the fool
Still trapped in snapshots…

  5. Wonderful to see you writing again Rimly...Memories,that is all is left in the end, trying to forget someone you love is like trying to remember someone you never met. It’s hard to tell your mind to stop loving someone, when you’re heart still does.

  8. This seems to be poetry day for me. How interesting since I love words but have no talent for using them in this way. Makes me all the more appreciative for those of you who do. Thanks for the lovely poem today.

  9. Oh, Rimly, your words here truly tugged at my heart. Looking at old photos, especially of people who have passed or your children when they were babies is always bittersweet and full of memories. You've captured this feeling so perfectly here.
    Blessings!

  11. People take and stack away photos to remind them of special occasions...

The snapshots of our lives are forever stored in our memories, sorted out by our subconscious and brought to another level by continuous reflections as you just did.

I love that you wrote again soul sis. It's always worth the wait ~ you always emerge beautifully... love you :*

  12. Beautiful poem ☺

Pictures say so much! Locked into them are memories and moments that define you, or at least who you used to be...And whatever I say about pictures wouldn't be enough to capture as much as snapshots do.

  14. I had to smile at your last two lines. They sum up the whole poem with a tinge of anger at the fool. I like this it was also tinged with a little regret, yet a gratitude for the lessons learned. Very nice.

  15. What a sad way to reflect on the past. I believe sometimes it is used to bring back the moments shared though in a bitter way.

  17. Dear Rimly,
How are you? I have missed your writing and your presence.
This is beautiful, but so bittersweet. Memories can make or break us. We have a tendency to blame love when relationships breakdown, but it's not love that fails us, it's we fickle humans who misuse love's meaning and then blame love. We are the ones who disappoint love, for love is perfect, eternal. Love has not timeline, knows no distance, no color or creed. You never know when it's going to creep up on you and wrap you up in its goodness. Always keep your heart open to love's beauty. Very nicely expressed. Welcome back!

  23. WOW! Powerful words. Yes, snapshots of life that pass us by... but we will always have NEW ones that will bring about BLESSINGS!!! Focus on the good memories and not the band ones. There will be more snapshots to come, that will erase the snapshots of the past! xo

  24. Dear Rimly: I'm here after a long time and what a beautiful post, I've come back to. Memories and nostalgia are a very important part of any individual and the poem exactly captures that. Bonnie has beautifully said that, "This is the story of our lives."

    Joy always,
    Susan
