CALL OF THE NIGHT

CALL OF THE NIGHT

Photo: Ron Bezbaruah

In the sweltering darkness,
An uneasy calm hovers
Clammy, cloying…
I toss and turn
My mind restless…
Conjuring happy thoughts,
They slip through like sand
Slippery, intangible…
 I am no magician!
Across rivers, dales,
Oceans and mountains
A voice calls out…
Soothing…
Unraveling my tangled soul
Spellbound I listen…
Every pitch, every sigh,
Every tinkle of laughter
Music to my sore ears…
Every word of love
Manna to my hungry senses
I listen…
Enraptured by this magical sound
Wishing it lingers
For always…
But it fades…
Always!
The first light of
Breaking dawn,
Harsh and incessant
Jabs at my sides…
Pain like second skin
Settles on me…
To be peeled once again
When the voice returns,
Reaching out…
Calling me across miles….

BTW Rimly, I notice that you haven't officially followed my blog yet. I don't mind since you are an important reader. However your absence in the followers list prohibits me from including your name in tags, awards and the like. If you are fine with it then no issues here.

    Have a good day! :)

  20. i don't know, but this was different from your old poems that i've read on this blog (though it's been some time i came here :-/ ).
first of all, it's a refreshing change that it was not about love, at least not overtly.
the ambiguity of the nature of poem makes it all the more interesting, with the mist of mystery a little darker than usual.
great one, more expected like that :)
    keep writing rimly
