DUSK

DUSK

Photo: Google Images

The dusk awaits patiently,
Neither here nor there…
For the comforting night,
Not far behind…
Like me…
I am dusky like the
Bewildered dusk
I wait for the
Enveloping darkness,
Tired of the ambiguities
Of my life…
Fair?
Dark?
Always somewhere between
Neither here nor there
In a limbo with you…
You say you love me
I am the dusk…
Do you see the darkness?
That lurks…
Stealthily waiting…
To plunge me into
A bottomless pit?
Or do you see the light?
I show to you and the world
Hiding my woes and lost dreams?
A façade nearly perfected.
I am dusky…
Suspended in between
Wanting to surrender to you…
Yet restraining the reins
Of my passion…
Do you know me?
This shadowy self…
I wait to be on the other shore
Fair or dark perhaps…
What would you choose?
If only partially…
For giving yourself
Was never your intention…
I am the dusk…
A duality…
Know me
I am to you what I portray…
Never the whole
Part light
Part dark
Always unfathomable,
Seductive…

  1. Rimly well i return to one of my most missed pastimes, reading blog posts, on one of my favourite, much missed blogging friends site, to find not only as always was before words that make my visual mind explode, but these specific words 'Yet restraining the reins Of my passion' ... if thats not someone giving me a message, then my names not Larry!

    1. Larry great to have you back. Just hopped across to your blog. I was taken aback reading all about passion in everyday life. Was that a coincidence? A pointer like you said?

  5. There's always a sense of mystery in the poems that you write...dark and dusk may be evident but you never fail to show the other side of this~ light...

  8. You always amaze me with your deep thinking which are well portrayed in these verses.

What an image you have created using this word 'dusk'. All that I have read up until now is 'dawn to dusk' and vice versa. But this kind of stand point is the first I have seen.

Absolutely remarkable! Your writing style is intriguing, passionate and full of emotions, as if I can picture you in the roles you have presented.

    Well done 'Poetess Rimly'!

  17. They might have missed the light shining or misinterpret the passion as darkness...ignorance or taken for granted?
Perhaps that she will remain, always unfathomable.

  18. Words are so fascinating. I used them, well, like a lawyer, which is what I am by profession. I might write about joy or spiritual matters, but I still write in that sort of direct way. Poetry is the opposite end of the spectrum, so I find that I'm so fascinated by the images and feelings that poetry evokes. You have a real gift and I look forward to reading more. Now following.

  20. Thus, the dichotomy of a woman..

    A duality…
    Know me
    I am to you what I portray…
    Never the whole
    Part light
    Part dark
    Always unfathomable,
    Seductive…

so in line with my last two posts. I think these last lines captured that place between our light and dark well. We are this or can be. I often write from this in-between place. It's home to to much of my poetry. My fiction self lives on the other side of the block and only stops by for the random cup of emotion for her story stirring. As ever, I am pulled in with your prose.

  25. I felt this poem almost spiritual, like an evening prayer by a soul intrigued by life. The twilight always brings such thoughts in my mind when I look out of the window at the darkening sky. Yopu are too good, dear Rimly!

  27. nice...you manage to capture that tension beautifully..think we have both of it in us and depends on lots of things what finally comes to the surface..but in the end...it's what we are and how we are...what we allow to be seen..and then the question..do you know me..? nicely penned

  28. oh this is really good...dusk is such a magical time anyways...i love positioning of 'in between' as that sets the vampire perfectly and you de set some tension well in this too...do you really know me...and what i will do...a bit of a conscience...

  29. I like this. I felt an inkling of sadness, but an acceptance of the darkness within (which we all have) and mostly hide. And who knows us entirely? No one, maybe not even ourselves. I like the imagery with dusk - we are neither light or darkness, we are both.

  34. This is so mysterious and intriguing! I think we are all half light and half dark, half hope and half despair. "Hope deferred makes a heart sick." What we focus on or feed will grow and what we don't focus on or starve, will fade or die...so to say?! This is a great reminder to me, to pay attention to what is consuming my thoughts and what I see! Without vision we perish! We need to hold onto HOPE in order to bring ourselves out of the pit of despair. Beautiful poem and very thought provoking! I love it!!!
