DUSK
Photo: Google Images
The dusk
awaits patiently,
Neither here
nor there…
For the comforting
night,
Not far behind…
Like me…
I am dusky like
the
Bewildered dusk
I wait for the
Enveloping darkness,
Tired of the
ambiguities
Of my life…
Fair?
Dark?
Always
somewhere between
Neither here
nor there
In a limbo
with you…
You say you
love me
I am the dusk…
Do you see the
darkness?
That lurks…
Stealthily waiting…
To plunge me
into
A bottomless pit?
Or do you see
the light?
I show to you
and the world
Hiding my woes
and lost dreams?
A façade nearly
perfected.
I am dusky…
Suspended in
between
Wanting to
surrender to you…
Yet restraining
the reins
Of my passion…
Do you know
me?
This shadowy
self…
I wait to be
on the other shore
Fair or dark perhaps…
What would you
choose?
If only
partially…
For giving
yourself
Was never your
intention…
I am the dusk…
A duality…
Know me
I am to you
what I portray…
Never the
whole
Part light
Part dark
Always unfathomable,
Seductive…
Rimly well i return to one of my most missed pastimes, reading blog posts, on one of my favourite, much missed blogging friends site, to find not only as always was before words that make my visual mind explode, but these specific words 'Yet restraining the reins Of my passion' ... if thats not someone giving me a message, then my names not Larry!
ReplyDeleteLarry great to have you back. Just hopped across to your blog. I was taken aback reading all about passion in everyday life. Was that a coincidence? A pointer like you said?
DeleteLoved the post. Great writing :) The picture goes well too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you PhilO
DeleteThe dusk is a fantastic metaphor for the uncertain direction passion will take. Just loved this!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Rimly!
Thank you so much Martha. Blessings to you too
DeleteBeautiful, Rimly. Nothing is ever one thing only.
ReplyDeleteThank you Adrienne. Nothing is the way it seems, there are so many grays in between
DeleteThere's always a sense of mystery in the poems that you write...dark and dusk may be evident but you never fail to show the other side of this~ light...
ReplyDeleteBellissima soul sis :*
Thank you soul sis. There has to be light, without it there is no dark. We all have it in us, the light and the dark.
Deletedusk or the unknown... inviting yet mysterious... poetic indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Savira
DeleteSimply awesome...the comparison is too good.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Janaki
DeleteYou always amaze me with your deep thinking which are well portrayed in these verses.
ReplyDeleteWhat an image you have created using this word 'dusk'. All that I have read up until now is 'dawn to dusk' and vice versa. But this kind of stand point is the first I have seen.
Absolutely remarkable! Your writing style is intriguing, passionate and full of emotions, as if I can picture you in the roles you have presented.
Well done 'Poetess Rimly'!
Sui, wow! That was some comment. Thank you my friend for all the wonderful things you have said about this poem
DeleteDear Rimly,
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of dusk is really everywhere. Your expression of such mystery and beauty is remarkable. Did I ever tell you that you are talented?
No you didnt Andy but thank you for saying it today. :))
DeleteThis is so beautiful, a deep description of your complexity. And what you say is probably true for all of us, in darkness we hide much of our truth.
ReplyDeleteThank you Myrna. I suppose all of us can relate to the ambiguities in our lives. Thank you so much
DeleteI loved the post!! Great writing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cathy. xoxo
DeleteMysterious and full of fathomless love,a soulful poem from an amazing poetess. Moving and gripping with its intensity. Great work, dear Outlier <3
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetie. Glad you liked it. Thanks for sharing always. xoxo
DeleteRimly you could be neither here nor there like the dusk but this post really should be everywhere. A work of beauty this!
ReplyDeleteKriti thank you my friend for all the great things you say about my poems.
DeleteLove and passion are often like dusk...unclear and many things to different folks. You certainly describe emotions we all feel when in the heat of passion. Glad to have you back. Great post!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you here again David. Missed your comments. Thank you
Deletebeautifully written, amazing i love your writings..
ReplyDeleteThank you Raganath for visiting, reading and commenting
DeleteI am the dusk.. the black hole awaiting my soul..will I jump in ..or head for the light..... amazing Rimly...have missed you...As always...XOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Bongo fr your comment. xoxo
DeleteThey might have missed the light shining or misinterpret the passion as darkness...ignorance or taken for granted?
ReplyDeletePerhaps that she will remain, always unfathomable.
Fher
Fher I guess we all are unfathomable to some extent. Thank you for visiting and commenting
DeleteWords are so fascinating. I used them, well, like a lawyer, which is what I am by profession. I might write about joy or spiritual matters, but I still write in that sort of direct way. Poetry is the opposite end of the spectrum, so I find that I'm so fascinated by the images and feelings that poetry evokes. You have a real gift and I look forward to reading more. Now following.
ReplyDeleteThank you Galen. It is a pleasure to have you here and comment
DeleteIt's everyone's wish to be loved wholly and not just in parts. I loved this piece for exploring this notion. I miss you Rimly! I will visit more often. :-)
ReplyDeleteMiss you too Tameka. I have been trying to catch up on your wonderful poems all these days.
DeleteThus, the dichotomy of a woman..
ReplyDeleteA duality…
Know me
I am to you what I portray…
Never the whole
Part light
Part dark
Always unfathomable,
Seductive…
so in line with my last two posts. I think these last lines captured that place between our light and dark well. We are this or can be. I often write from this in-between place. It's home to to much of my poetry. My fiction self lives on the other side of the block and only stops by for the random cup of emotion for her story stirring. As ever, I am pulled in with your prose.
Thank you Brenda. We are truly this or can be.
DeleteKnow me, I am to you what I portray, Never the whole, Part light, Part dark
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful... Couldn't stop myself from reading it twice... cheers!
Hey that is a compliment! Thank you Vijay for reading this and commenting so beautifully!
DeleteStrong words, Rimly. Your poem describes a dark part of life so well. Excellent poem, as always! <3 :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Irene great to see you here. Thank you so much for reading and commenting
DeleteWow, the story of my love life. Dusk. How did you know? ;)
ReplyDeleteThe story of most of our lives Erin. :((( Thanks for dropping by to read and comment
DeleteMore often than naught we find ourselves living a dual existence...dodging and weaving through life's illusions.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem.
Here's mine: http://ascendingthehills.blogspot.com/2012/04/om-final-poem-for-napowrimo.html
I know Jessica. We are all playing roles. So you too have joined this competition? I must check it out. Thank you for commenting
DeleteI felt this poem almost spiritual, like an evening prayer by a soul intrigued by life. The twilight always brings such thoughts in my mind when I look out of the window at the darkening sky. Yopu are too good, dear Rimly!
ReplyDelete-Portia
Thank you sweet Portia for transforming my poem to a prayer. The twilight is a time of day I am not very comfortable with, hence this poem.
DeleteGreat post rim...wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mani. xoxo
DeleteSimply amazing imagery. Dusk is neither here nor there... it awaits the enveloping darkness...
ReplyDeletePowerful words. xoxo
Thank you Rachel. xoxo
Deletenice...you manage to capture that tension beautifully..think we have both of it in us and depends on lots of things what finally comes to the surface..but in the end...it's what we are and how we are...what we allow to be seen..and then the question..do you know me..? nicely penned
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Claudia
Deleteoh this is really good...dusk is such a magical time anyways...i love positioning of 'in between' as that sets the vampire perfectly and you de set some tension well in this too...do you really know me...and what i will do...a bit of a conscience...
ReplyDeleteI loved your post. Yes it does set the tone for vampires...dusk...the twilight zone. Thank you for visiting and reading, Brian
DeleteI like this. I felt an inkling of sadness, but an acceptance of the darkness within (which we all have) and mostly hide. And who knows us entirely? No one, maybe not even ourselves. I like the imagery with dusk - we are neither light or darkness, we are both.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree Myrna. Do we really know ourselves, leave alone the people around us. Thank you for your lovely comment
DeleteLove the contrast in this poem between dark and light. Great poem Rimly! Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nelieta. Have a great week and weekend as well. xoxo
DeleteRimly, your image captures one's attention immediately and the poem goes right along with it. You have done a great job with this one! Thanks for sharing ☺
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mary.
DeleteThere are times when I feel like dusk-when I am neither here or there. Stopping by after a long time sista-hope all is well. As for your poems-they are just getting better and better.

Thank you my dear sis. Havent seen you in a long time. I am good. You? What plans of coming this side of the world?
DeleteIntriguing. I Love the feel you create to your poetry
ReplyDeleteThank you Jerly
DeleteThis is so mysterious and intriguing! I think we are all half light and half dark, half hope and half despair. "Hope deferred makes a heart sick." What we focus on or feed will grow and what we don't focus on or starve, will fade or die...so to say?! This is a great reminder to me, to pay attention to what is consuming my thoughts and what I see! Without vision we perish! We need to hold onto HOPE in order to bring ourselves out of the pit of despair. Beautiful poem and very thought provoking! I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteSo true Lisa. I love what you said that what we focus on or fee will grow ans what we dont focus on or starve will fade or die. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment
