ALONE NO MORE

ALONE NO MORE

The icy wind lashes…
She stands bracing
As it stings her eyes,
Teeth chattering,
Bones cold to the marrow,
She waits…
Rubbing her hands
For that illusive warmth
Her mind seized
With anxiousness,
An impending disappointment
Looms heavily in the air…
The dark shadowed mountains
Wait, watching silently
Vigilant like her
For the story to unfold…

The fog of uncertainty
Thickens…
As darkness swallows
Her lonesome self…
Every waiting moment ticking
Seems like a heavy
Crushing lifetime…
Her still warm heart
Telling her to believe…
He will come
But fear lurks
 Stealthily biding, to consume her
Somewhere in the dark
A howl shatters the
Cold dark night…
Is it an animal?
Or did that inhuman
Wail escape from her
Tormented soul?

She shivers…
Hope and Doubt
Dance in tandem
In desperation she holds on
To happy memories
Of them…
But as time trudges…
Her wavering heart
Gives way
Till not a flicker of light
Remains…
It is plunged in darkness
Numbed and chilled
She looks for him
In the swirling distance
One last time…
Emptiness beckons her
And she turns away

When…
A presence….
Strong warm fingers
Intertwines her cold
Listless ones….
Startled a moan
Escapes her cold lips
Disbelieving and believing
She is drawn towards
A heart beating for her…
He smiles
His love filled eyes crinkling…
She lays her head
On his expansive heart
Finally resting her weary soul…
Alone no more

  6. Loneliness is not a desirable option, but often it helps to unclog one's mind. And maybe this is the time for you to recollect your thoughts and be yourself. To dare to live alone is the rarest courage, since there are many who had rather meet their bitterest enemy in the field, than their own hearts in their closet. You are a winner, and a fighter...you will survive..love u always.

  21. Bonnie unless we love ourselves we can never truly love another. So one does not depend on another's love to love oneself. Thank you. xoxo

  22. Rimly I loved the way you used the unpredictableness of the storm to illustrate her "waiting" ...and not unlike the wind in the storm..her mind being tossed around within her own doubts and fears...yet hoping still for a break in the storm and the sun to shine through...bringing warmth back to her soul. The photo's reflect perfectly what is going in her mind. Your phrase " Or did that inhuman wail escape from her tormented soul"...takes you down to the depths of despair...her darkest moment...that glimpse of hopelessness... it is only when we surrender that we make room for that "Light" to shine again."Finally resting her weary soul, alone no more.".... beautifully written from one who understands...this is the power of your heartfelt words...my dear friend...Always..

  23. Every one is more lonely these days than before. Don't know where we are carrying our self to. Every one is carrying the burden of un-sh arable thoughts....no one know where we are heading to indeed. Perhaps towards a more lonely our self than ever before.....

  24. Sweet Rimly, I was feeling her anticipation and fear, the numbing loneliness and desire. I was so happy that he came to her. Wow, you really pulled me in on this one. I know that we must love ourselves first but sometimes love helps us along and shows us how to do that. Love is the best teacher.

  26. Hi Islam thank you for visiting and commenting. Yes you are right about people being lonely these days, there is an alienation as people are becoming more and more busy coping with life. But amidst all this loneliness if you look hard you will find like minded people to share your thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment

  35. You captured that moment exactly when you think you've been left alone and no one is coming and then twist it round right at the end - perfectly. This was really great to read Rimly, Ilove it.

  37. Some poets would have ended it here:

    A howl shatters the
    Cold dark night…
    Is it an animal?
    Or did that inhuman
    Wail escape from her
    Tormented soul?

    Happy ending - yah!
