SNAPSHOTS
Snapshots!
Black, White,
Black, White,
Colored…
All vie for
attention!
A plethora of
snapshots!
They stare at
me!
These faces!
Each tell a
tale
Of long spent
passion,
Of a frenzied
love!
I stand amidst
them,
Invoking
memories
Of what had
been…
The dream
laden eyes…
The trembling
lips…
Excited and
swollen
Their desire unleashed
As they devour
One another,
Tracing a new
Love story…
The tender
arms
That hold promises
Of eternal togetherness,
Ecstasy
transporting
Them on
gossamer wings
To a world of their own.
Unaware…
Oblivious…
That all fades
in time…
Pales…withers…crushed
To dust….
Their glazed
eyes
Plead for
answers…
Haunted faces!
Where did it
all go?
Their screams
Almost audible…
The longing
that
Tore the very
soul,
The passion
that
Ignited in a
blaze,
The hopes,
The promises
The love that
was theirs
Timeless…
Where?
Why?
I have no
answers…
Silence my
only recourse…
The sea of
faces
My very image…
I walk away,
Turn the pages
of my life,
As a lone tear
slides
Down my heavy
bosom…
Their love…
A fairy tale
now
Their faces…
Inanimate and
lifeless
Their hopes
and dreams…
An illusion…
I walk away
wiser,
Glancing one
last time
At the fool
Still trapped
in snapshots…
Memories are made of these...

ReplyDeleteThank you, little one.
DeleteWonderful to see you writing again Rimly...Memories,that is all is left in the end, trying to forget someone you love is like trying to remember someone you never met. It’s hard to tell your mind to stop loving someone, when you’re heart still does.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as usual.
Thank you soul sis.I agree with what you say.
DeleteRimly, this is why I hold you in such high esteem!
ReplyDelete-Portia
Thank you my dear Portia. <3
DeleteCaptured and framed beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThank you Janu, have been missing out of action for a long time. Got a lot of catching up to do
DeleteThis seems to be poetry day for me. How interesting since I love words but have no talent for using them in this way. Makes me all the more appreciative for those of you who do. Thanks for the lovely poem today.
ReplyDeleteThank you Galen
DeleteOh, Rimly, your words here truly tugged at my heart. Looking at old photos, especially of people who have passed or your children when they were babies is always bittersweet and full of memories. You've captured this feeling so perfectly here.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Martha so good to see you reading and commenting. I have been absent for so long from my blogging friends that I seem to have completely lost touch with everyone. Thank you for always reading and leaving such wonderful comments, my friend
DeleteBeautiful and Soothing... Cheers, keep churning them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vijay
DeletePeople take and stack away photos to remind them of special occasions...
ReplyDeleteThe snapshots of our lives are forever stored in our memories, sorted out by our subconscious and brought to another level by continuous reflections as you just did.
I love that you wrote again soul sis. It's always worth the wait ~ you always emerge beautifully... love you :*
Thank you soul sis. Love you too
DeleteBeautiful poem ☺
ReplyDeletePictures say so much! Locked into them are memories and moments that define you, or at least who you used to be...And whatever I say about pictures wouldn't be enough to capture as much as snapshots do.
Kiara, so good to see you here and commenting. Thank you so much
DeleteAfter reading your beautiful poem, I think I will have profound thoughts about snapshots I see! This is so well-written!!! <3 :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading and commenting Irene
DeleteI had to smile at your last two lines. They sum up the whole poem with a tinge of anger at the fool. I like this it was also tinged with a little regret, yet a gratitude for the lessons learned. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteYes Myrna, anger, but lots of gratitude.
DeleteWhat a sad way to reflect on the past. I believe sometimes it is used to bring back the moments shared though in a bitter way.
ReplyDeleteYes David, sometimes some memories bring back happy moments that no longer give you happiness. Thank you for commenting.
DeleteIt was fascinating to read so many perspectives that you brought out through this poem on 'snapshots'.
ReplyDeletePleased to see you on blogosphere again. :)
Thank you Sui. Good to see you back too.
DeleteDear Rimly,
ReplyDeleteHow are you? I have missed your writing and your presence.
This is beautiful, but so bittersweet. Memories can make or break us. We have a tendency to blame love when relationships breakdown, but it's not love that fails us, it's we fickle humans who misuse love's meaning and then blame love. We are the ones who disappoint love, for love is perfect, eternal. Love has not timeline, knows no distance, no color or creed. You never know when it's going to creep up on you and wrap you up in its goodness. Always keep your heart open to love's beauty. Very nicely expressed. Welcome back!
Thoughts Of Beauty In The Stillness Of Dawn...
Andy thank you so much. I agree it is never love it is always us that change. Love is constant. Great to have you comment on my poem, my friend. xoxo
DeleteI’ve done the same thing Rimly.
ReplyDeleteGlancing one last time
At the fool
Still trapped in snapshots…
Don’t I ever see myself here!
We all do it, don't we Debra as we become wiser. What at one time tugged our heart no longer does. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment
DeleteBeautiful Rimly! To be honest, I think I am still trapped in some of those `snapshots`. Thank you for visiting my moment.
ReplyDeleteI guess we all are still trapped in snapshots in some ways. Thank you Nelieta for visitibg
DeleteThat's why we capture the memories... times change... it can be sad, but sometimes it is still nice to look back.
ReplyDeleteI agree Rachel. To go back and live it in your mind sometimes is nice.
DeleteSo good to read you again...this is beautiful and poignant, broken loves are one of the saddest things in life. The joy while we have them is immeasurable, it is always a risk to give love.
ReplyDeleteyes giving love is always a gamble like life. Thank you my friend for visiting
DeleteSnapshots...the story of our lives..and what a story they tell...As always...XOXOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteThank you Bonnie xoxo
DeleteWOW! Powerful words. Yes, snapshots of life that pass us by... but we will always have NEW ones that will bring about BLESSINGS!!! Focus on the good memories and not the band ones. There will be more snapshots to come, that will erase the snapshots of the past! xo
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lisa. Snapshots will keep changing bringing in happier ones. The ones who stay stuck with the old ones are fools.
DeleteDear Rimly: I'm here after a long time and what a beautiful post, I've come back to. Memories and nostalgia are a very important part of any individual and the poem exactly captures that. Bonnie has beautifully said that, "This is the story of our lives."
ReplyDeleteJoy always,
Susan
Thank you Susan for visiting Journey after so long. Yes I agree with Bonnie too. Take care, my friend
DeleteWoW, Rimly! Powerful and palpable! Also, reminds me of my impending journey 'home' later this month -- my mind is full of snapshots...

"Glancing one last time
At the fool
Still trapped in snapshots…"
you are very talented!
Hi Amy, I hope whatever emotions this poem has stirred up, they are good ones! Thank you so much for your beautiful comment.
ReplyDelete"Memories light the corner of my mind...misty water color memories of the way we were.." goes the song. Yes, with or without the actual snapshots those in our mind continue to bring either joy or deep regret...Fantastic to have you back with a bang, Rimly.
ReplyDeleteYes Corinne I agree. Thank you so much, my friend
Deletesmiles..looking at those snapshots of life can take us on all kinds of trips..from huge gratitude to fierce anger and deep sadness...thanks for taking us along..
